Outlander season 4 episode 12 spoilers: What’s next for Brianna, Lord John

Outlander

In just a matter of a few short days, Outlander season 4 episode 12 is going to arrive on Starz. That’s the good news; the bad news is that there’s only one more episode on the other side of it as we start to circle the end of the season. There is a lot of ground left to cover over these two episodes, and that is especially true for Brianna. Just think about where she is right now: Pregnant, set to marry Lord John Gray, and trying still to find her way in this time period. It’s still all reasonably new to her.

In a new sneak peek via Harper’s Bazaar, you do get a better sense as to the connection that exists now between Brianna and Lord John. While they may not be romantic, there is a level of care and attention present here. She’s in a tough spot in this episode — she’s back in Wilmington for the first time since Stephen Bonnet assaulted her and beyond that, she’s not getting any more comfortable with her pregnancy. She’s struggling with it and she wishes her mother was around. This is where Lord John comes into play, as he reassures her that she will do all that she can to make her way back, and he also does feel like Roger will be there with her. Nobody actually knows that Roger is alive, so consider this Lord John trying to put his best foot forward for her.

In the end, Bree appreciates the gesture, and we do think that she recognizes the good fortune she has with Lord John being at River Run when he was. She hasn’t had a lot of good fortune lately, so she really has to take advantage of it whenever it comes up.

What’s coming on the other side of this?

With Lord John’s help, Brianna will have an opportunity to potentially confront Bonnet for the first time since her assault — it’s a chance to get a bit of closure, if there even is such a thing after everything that she has gone through. This city is going to be the setting for quite a bit of action this season overall, largely due to the other mission going on concurrently involving Murtagh, whose life is on the line after he was captured. Given the complicated layers that are there already between Lord John and Murtagh, we do wonder what would happen if they were to cross paths?
