In a new post on his Twitter account, executive producer Ryan Murphy confirmed a pair of actors who will be appearing in at least one episode moving forward this season; and unsurprisingly, they both already have some pretty big pre-existing connections to NBC.
1. First, we have Nicole Richie. She is not necessarily known for her acting chops, but the former “Simple Life” star has expanding her brand in ways in which we never would have initially imagined. Not only has she become one of the hottest young designers in the world of fashion, but she is also a new sort of reality TV star as a mentor for “Fashion Star,” which is shooting its second season this fall.
2. Next, we have George Takei. The legendary “Star Trek” actor is openly gay, and his support of several gay rights organizations may yield for him to possible just play himself on this show given the subject matter. Takei was previously on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” and was thoroughly entertaining in the process before getting fired by Donald Trump fairly early in the season.
“The New Normal” has seen modest success so far on NBC, and although it has not delivered the ratings punch of “Go On” or some of the other much-hyped shows on the network, it has at least done a pretty good job of staying consistent and getting people to talk about the subject matter. With all of this in mind, we would not be stunned in the slightest if it was given a full season at some point in the coming weeks.
