‘American Idol': Jessica Sanchez performs at Democratic National Conventionby September 5, 2012
On Wednesday night in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Democratic National Convention served as a setting for a new Jessica Sanchez performance; and when you think about it, this is one that is particularly memorable. It’s not often that you see someone who is not even old enough to vote at 17 get involved in the political arena as much as Sanchez has, as she has spent a little bit of time in the past 24 hours talking about her desire to end homelessness and for the government to help give back to those in need.
We’re not really going to get involved in politics here, though, mostly because this is not the sort of site that this is. However, what we can tell you is that the “American Idol” season 11 star gave a soaring performance of the classic Marvin Gaye song “You’re All I Need To Get By.” This is a song that has ironically been covered on the fox show more times than we can really count, but with the help of a rather massive choir, Jessica, who was sporting a shimmering blue top, gave what may be one of the best performances that we have heard of the song yet.
Jessica follows up a number of other successful performers who have already taken to the political convention circuit in the past few years, including another former “American Idol” contestant in Taylor Hicks. Hopefully, this will continue to give her a platform for her to shine in the weeks ahead, as she continues the rest of her tour as well as wraps up recording her debut album.
