‘American Idol’ notes: Colton Dixon, Adam Lambert, Phillip PhillipsSeptember 4, 2012 2 comments
We have some pretty great news to share courtesy of our Tuesday evening edition of “American Idol” notes, and we are going to begin with Colton Dixon making a big announcement to his fans.
In the video below, the season 11 star, who has already been performing an original song in “Already Gone” throughout the entirety of the show’s summer tour, announces that he has signed a record deal to be a part of the EMICMG and Sparrow Records family. For those of you who are unaware, Sparrow is one of the biggest labels out there for Christian music, and they have housed such artists over the years as TobyMac (formerly of dc Talk) and Steven Curtis Chapman.
When it comes to specific music, Colton says that the song he has been performing all summer in “Already Gone” will be made available on September 25; meanwhile, his first single entitled “You Are” will be heading out to radio soon. Colton definitely has the tools to be successful in this genre of music, and he certainly given that he is the most high-profile “American Idol” star (though not the only one) to focus primarily on Christian music.
Phillip Phillips performs on “Live! with Kelly and Michael” – On the same day that it was revealed that Michael Strahan was officially the new co-host on Kelly Ripa’s morning show, Phillip stopped by in order to perform a song in “Home” that may in many ways be a welcome to the NFL star to the show.
We like the restraint in this performance, and you can check out the video below via Mjsbigblog.
Adam Lambert makes his VMA pitch – Finally, we have Adam Lambert sharing a few thoughts per MTV Australia and the upcoming Video Music Awards airing in the U.S. on September 6. His pick for Video of the Year? Let’s just say that he is giving it to Rihanna for “We Found Love” without question:
“I liked the Rihanna video a lot because I felt like it was something different … You know, all of us want to make some glam, fabulous, fashion-orientated thing but that video was very real, almost like documentary style and I thought it was very cool.”
Hopefully, the VMAs are going to choose to give Adam some more recognition in the future; let’s hope for something great to visually represent his next single (which will hopefully announced in the near future).
