There hasn’t been too much to report as of late on the “Mad Men” front, and with good reason — season 5 has been over for months now, and anyone who knows this show is already familiar with just how secretive that the writing staff has a tendency to be.
Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, there is one thing, though, that series star Christina Hendricks opted to speculate on — whether or not we would even see Peggy or Joan in the same room again following the exit of Elisabeth Moss’ character from SCDP for a rival company. Why? It’s mostly for the sake of keeping things realistic:
“I don’t know that those two will ever [spend time together now]. I don’t think they’re friends … [Series creator] Matt [Weiner] made a distinction about that very, very early on, saying, ‘These two women will never be friends.’”
While this is sad only because these two actresses are electric on screen, we should just be glad that Moss is going to be a part of the story at all. Presumably, we are going to see Peggy this season spending most of her scenes with Don Draper, who she still has some sort of friendship with despite the two now being rivals rather than mentor and mentee. Presumably, we’re hoping for some sort of epic battle — similar in some ways to Gus versus Walt on “Breaking Bad,” save for all of the violence.
