Power season 5 premiere date: What would be the ideal for Starz?

Is it too early to start talking more about a possible Power season 5 premiere date? We don’t quite think so given that the hype’s out there. This is a show that lends itself to speculation and discussion just because it leaves you, almost constantly, with a number of big twists and turns. It especially has no problem dangling big cliffhangers in front of you and making you wonder precisely what could be coming on the other side. This happened at the end of season 4, especially with Tasha. We’re left now in a position where we’re sitting around and wondering whether or not she could go to prison or find a way out, similar to what happened with Ghost.

While we could dive into this more — and we probably will over the course of this hiatus — for now let’s keep things reasonably basic as we focus back in on that Power season 5 premiere date. When could it be, and what’s the ideal for Starz as they try to properly place the show on the schedule?

The first thing to consider here is simple: It has to be in the summer. With Power season 5 in production there’s no real reason for it to be anywhere else, especially since this is when the show has broken so many records for the network. It performs well there and is expected by viewers at this point to air at around this time.

Beyond just this, though, there are some other questions … including when is the summer is best. You don’t want the Power season 5 premiere date to be too early in June that you end up missing some people who have turned off the TV for a week or two after the network broadcasting season. Meanwhile, you don’t want Starz to have too big of a break between the end of Power and the start of Outlander season 4 — provided of course that the show continues to air in the same fall spot.

Let’s presume here that Outlander season 4 premieres on Sunday, September 9, one day earlier in the year than season 3 premieres. If that’s the case, Power season 5 could premiere on Sunday, July 1 and air an episode a week until the finale. There wouldn’t be a Sunday devoid of one of these shows. Another option, meanwhile, could be to premiere Power on Sunday, June 24 and then take a week off between the end of this show and the start of Outlander.

There are a lot of qualifiers out there given that we’re still so far away from whenever a Power season 5 premiere date will be announced — yet, as filming continues we at CarterMatt thought it best to start to give you some dates to put on your radar.
