Following today’s big kick-off (on Friday the 13th no less), when is Mindhunter season 2 going to rise to the occasion and premiere on Netflix?
Well, the David Fincher-produced series, which is every bit as freaky as you would hope given its title, is set to be coming back for more in the future per a report from SpoilerTV. It notes that production on another batch of Mindhunter episodes is already underway, and that this is something that will presumably continue from now until close to the end of the year.
If this is indeed happening, this effectively gives Netflix unprecedented flexibility to do virtually anything that they want when it comes to this show. They can premiere Mindhunter whenever they want next year, though we do think that a start date later in the year seems about right. We wouldn’t call this a perfect-for-Halloween show in the same way that we would Stranger Things, but there is clearly some common thread there in that they both have subject matter that may make some people uneasy in the best way possible. This certainly should also satisfy those with the urge to watch a top-notch crime drama — those are plenty of them out there, but fewer on Netflix overall.
Ultimately this is a series that is going to be bringing a lot of interesting stuff to the table whenever it comes back, but we hope that in the midst of everything that is going on in the world right now it doesn’t get completely forgotten. After all, shows like this, even with a renewal, still need a little bit of love! As of right now with Mindhunter you’re working for a season 3 more so than a season 2, but you do still want to get that. Also, the show needs to be found now before the aforementioned Stranger Things premieres and everyone is sucked down into some sort of a vortex binge-watching that.
Rest assured that no matter what the future may hold for a Mindhunter season 2, we are going to have some additional scoop all about it here at the site. Stay tuned.
