Blue Bloods season 8 premiere wishlist: Danny’s debate; Jamie – Eddie progress

Blue Bloods season 8

What should take place on the Blue Bloods season 8 premiere? It’s coming up on CBS in one week’s time, and it feels right to now take a longer look as a part of our ongoing CarterMatt Premiere Wishlist series.

The first thing that we should address is in the photo — the relationship between Jamie and Eddie. Do we want to see the two of them together moving forward? absolute it would be nice to, given the fact that we’ve invested so much time and effort into this relationship at this point. We know that they have feelings for each other, just as we also know that they’ve held back on them. Given that we’re in season 8, now is the time to not hold back. Even if you don’t bring them together in the premiere, don’t push back the clock on their relationship. Take some major steps forward. Given that the two parties are working together on an undercover case in the premiere, we do consider that a step in the right direction.

As for some of the other stuff we want to see…

1. Make Danny seriously consider retirement – We know that this debate is coming for Donnie Wahlberg’s character, and the last thing that we do want to see here is something that barely glosses on the seriousness of his situation. Someone just came after his family hard, and in the process of that put them in grave jeopardy. This is something that the show does need to explore, and while we hope Danny sticks around, it needs to be an important discussion in the aftermath of his house burning down.

2. Offer up a different dynamic between Frank and the Mayor – Margaret Dutton is now in the place of Mayor Poole, and while we’re fine with seeing Tom Selleck’s character clash with City Hall, it needs to be different and offer up a reason to be excited over this as opposed to just getting to see the same story with a different character in place.

3. Do something big with Jack Boyle – The promo that is out there for this episode suggests that Erin’s ex is going to be in danger. No matter the consequence of this story, we hope that it does shake Erin up on some level and cause her to make some big decisions in life.

In the end, change is something that this show needs, and it’s something that we do think it’s time to explore more. While Blue Bloods may be a procedural and that often means constancy, it does feel like the time is now.
