Hawaii Five-0 season 8 video: Things we could lose in the fire
The promo below offers up some of the latest teases for the upcoming September 29 episode, with one of the big storylines revolving around a fire — and Joey Lawrence of Blossom / Melissa & Joey fame playing a famous hacker in Aaron Wright. After what happened to his brother Ian Wright (Nick Jonas), clearly Aaron is harboring a grudge or two. It’s hard to think that there is any other possible motives for why he would do some of the terrible stuff that he does here, releasing a dangerous arsonist from prison who then goes of to do … well, unfortunately, what most arsonists do. There will be an incredibly threatening fire at the center of this hour, which makes it a story of survival just as much as it is a case that needs to be solved. It certainly seems as though the Hawaii Five-0 team is going to know who the responsible parties are, so it’s going to be more so a matter of gathering enough evidence and shutting them down. Not every case is a murder mystery where the guilty party is hiding under a mask somewhere a la Scooby-Doo.
Beyond everything that we’ve laid out in this article already, one of the other things worth getting excited about in the premiere is the debut of Meaghan Rath as lifeguard-turned-potential-task-force-member Tani Rey. Unfortunately there’s not a whole lot of footage of her here, but we figure that she’s going to bring a ton of energy to the show and be a fun addition to the team. The show has a tough challenge of balancing the new arrivals along with the departures of both Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park; that’s especially difficult given that Max (Masi Oka) had a really touching farewell when he departed the show (that we cried like a baby through), and we’re not sure how much of an opportunity there is going to be for one here.
Ultimately, just get ready for what should be a pretty fun Hawaii Five-0 episode Friday that brings a lot of good stuff to the table. If you love the show when there’s a ton of action and life-or-death circumstances, you’re probably going to love this one. There is also no guarantee that this is going to be the only occasion in which you see Lawrence this season. Therefore, don’t be surprised if he stops by later this season, given that Five-0 often does a good job cultivating adversaries who remain a thorn in the side of the team for a rather long time. We absolutely envision some circumstances in which this is the case here.
