Blindspot season 3 spoilers: Jaimie Alexander teases new connections, secrets

Jaimie AlexanderWhen Blindspot season 3 premieres on NBC, there is going to be a lot of great stuff coming — this is at least per star Jaimie Alexander.

We said in our recent Premiere Wishlist piece for the show that one of the things that we would very much like to see are some new beginnings for Jaimie’s character of Jane and Sullivan Stapleton’s Weller. As it turns out, though, what we could potentially see more of instead is some surprises that further along some of the mythology that we already know.

Speaking in a new interview (per TVLine) while at the Emmys on Sunday night, Alexander teased that “new characters are coming in that have a very heavy connection to Jane, people that she didn’t remember … You guys’ll be shocked. It’s crazy.” If that wasn’t enough for you to get excited, consider this: Alexander also teases that Jane has a huge secret that she’s going to drop over the course of the season, and the same could be said for Weller.

What sort of big reveals are we expecting with Jane this season? We would want them to be ones that would instill the show with even more of a sense of fun and adventure than what we’ve seen in the past. The show does have effectively this enormous canvas for itself that it can play around with in the past, since there is so much great material out there for the writers to work and play with that they haven’t explored yet. When you have a character who does suffer from the amnesia that Jane does, it opens things up for so much more creativity!

Now, here is the flip side of this and the main problem we foresee: Waiting to see precisely what some of these secrets really are. With a show like this, one of the things you need to be perpetually aware of is that you do want characters to eventually trust each other. Secrets never turn out well on TV shows, so in the event that there is a big secret being kept by someone, you do effectively want to know why it’s happening. There needs to be a good reason. So long as some of the Blindspot writers have that, the story could end up panning out and turning out to be all sorts of interesting, smart, and dramatic.

Ultimately, we’re going to see the end result of these stories one way or another when Blindspot season 3 premieres on NBC come October.
