NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere promo: Pride’s leadership crisis

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere promo

We’ve got the first NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere promo today, and what this suggests is trouble for none other than Scott Bauka’s Pride. With that said, you can say the same for the remainder of the team.

In the promo below, the biggest takeaway that you can see is Pride coming to terms more with the fact that he’s not the leader for the time being. He’s been netted probation in the aftermath of what transpired with Mayor Hamilton, which means effectively that there are some other people taking the lead. Special Agent Paula Boyd (Becky Ann Baker, Girls) has been brought in to run the show in his absence, and will come bringing her own skills and suspicions. She should be a great character, but the one thing probably holding her back for many fans is simply that they want to see Pride run point. It’s going to be hard to root for someone who makes it hard for that to happen. He’s going to have to find some unusual ways in order to stay involved.

How could he make that happen? Well, let’s just say that he may be a part of an underground mission in the premiere episode. Via CBS, the FBI of all people is going to come to town to take on an important case, one that involves a stolen big rig containing dangerous nuclear waste. Everyone wants to ensure that nothing bad happens with said waste, so the NCIS team in the Big Easy are going to do what they can to look into it without anyone knowing. We’re just now sure if the team knows how to not investigate things. It’s a part of their DNA at this point, and Pride has trained them well to always be vigilant and on the lookout for dangerous stuff.

Obviously, there’s a further reason why Pride and company should be looking into what could be preparations for a possible terrorist attack: Experience. While bringing in outside forces to help contain the problem is useful, at the same time they may not be the best equipped to help. They don’t know the turf. Nobody knows it better than Pride, including the various factions in the city. You can’t keep a good crime-fighter down, but we do hope that he’s in a better place now than he was at one point at the end of season 3.

Consider this promo just the beginning for our CarterMatt coverage of the show this season — we’ve got previews, reviews, and a whole lot more good stuff coming as the season progresses.
