Prepare for The Walking Dead season 8 via Netflix, AMC

Walking Dead season 8

If you’re not ready for The Walking Dead season 8 to premiere on AMC next month, the network’s now making it easier for you to catch up on a few things!

Today, the network is airing (starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time) a brand-new Talking Dead special that has a couple of different things going for it. For one, it’s got both Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lennie James featuring Chris Hardwick. Also, there’s a pretty good chance that you’re going to be able to see some footage from the new season (at least that’s what we are hoping for). There may be only so much that the show can share, but AMC recognizes that this is one of their most-popular shows and they want to do virtually everything in their power to ensure that the ratings are there. Also, they’re smart enough to realize that there is some additional merit that comes out of putting this preview special here in terms of promoting Fear the Walking Dead season 3, which is returning tonight with two episodes airing back to back. The hope here is that having a Walking Dead preview special on beforehand will prove useful in helping to boost the ratings.

Beyond just this special though, there are some other very-clear reasons for excitement! After all, season 7 of The Walking Dead is officially on Netflix. This will help to get you caught up if you’re behind, or simply want to engage in a little bit of a re-watch. One of the best things about having The Walking Dead on Netflix is that it does continue to be a goldmine for bringing in new viewers (even 7 seasons deep there are more viewers coming in all the time). In the earlier days of the show, (when there were fewer episodes of the show on the air) this was especially useful. We really consider this show (alongside Breaking Bad) to be two of the first programs to really reap a huge reward as a result of a Netflix bump. They were the perfect shows to take advantage of the streaming service, and in one way or another, both franchises are still going strong. After all, Better Call Saul is also still airing on the network.

When The Walking Dead season 8 actually does premiere, be prepared to see the continuation of the All-Out-War storyline. We saw the beginnings of it with Sasha’s death at the end of season 7, but there’s no way now to get that metaphorical toothpaste back in the tube. Everything when it comes to the story is going to now accelerate, and it is possible that some other lives could soon be lost.
