Poldark season 4 photo: See Heida Reed, Aidan Turner back in costume!
If you look below (via Reed’s Instagram page), you can see one of the first pictures of Ross from the upcoming season. This is the second one that we’ve seen of Reed’s Elizabeth, as the character was also featured in one of the first photos from the new season unveiled by the fine folks over at the BBC. Filming is already underway in the UK leading up to a premiere next summer. For those of you who are American Poldark fans, CarterMatt has some season 3 spoilers ahead.
Is there anything to make of the sighting of Reed and Turner alongside each other? We do like to imagine that it could be some sort of signal that some Ross and Elizabeth scenes could be coming over the course of the new season, but there is no guarantee of such a thing at the moment. For now, we’re not taking this as anything more than a sign that the two were just on the set together at the same time.
If they were to have a conversation together, Ross and Elizabeth certainly still do have quite a bit to discuss. With their shared romantic history they’re always going to have a connection, and Ross didn’t exactly come clean with Demelza about the talk that he’d had with her. However, we do know from his internal monologue that he’s actually more than happy to be with Demelza and now feels a different sort of love towards Elizabeth in comparison to what he once did. Watching these relationships play out with some of their various ebbs and flows are going to be a key part of the fourth season, which is also jumping forward in time.
We can say that in terms of things between Elizabeth and George Warleggan, we could see a slight changing of the guard in the new season. After all, she made it clear to him at the end of this past season what she would not tolerate, and we imagine that she’s going to try to hold firm to that now. She wants to make the most of the life that she has, and you would think in theory that her husband would want the same as opposed to being focused on anger and jealousy. Alas, that just seems to be the way of the world for this guy, and that may still be a part of him.
