Will a BoJack Horseman season 5 renewal happen? It certainly should

BoJack Horseman season 5 renewal

With the show launching today on Netflix, should we get a BoJack Horseman season 5 renewal coming up soon? While there may be no confirmation of anything at the moment, we do certainly have plenty of hope for it — and for good reason.

The fact of the matter here is that this show remains a Netflix staple. While it’s not their first major hit by any means, it was one of their first big successes in the animated realm. It also may be their most-underrated show that they have when you think about everything that it brings to the table. It’s thought-provoking, emotional, meaningful, and does that while also being hilarious and mocking such obscure things as J.D. Salinger. No TV show attempts quite this much in terms of broad comedy while also trying to say something about celebrity and the human condition.

If there is a BoJack Horseman season 5 renewal, we presume that  the new season would be fairly similar to some of the others. New episodes would come out in the fall once more, and would feature some of the same voice cast … though the reality here is that they have a little bit more in the way of flexibility. BoJack Horseman could go off the air for a few years, and still come back to a hungry audience. That’s the joy of doing an animated series, and it also probably helps that much of the voice cast already has a close tie to Netflix, whether it be Will Arnett (Flaked, Arrested Development) or Alison Brie (GLOW). This is a show that could last for a long time and hopefully it will, but we understand that we’re not looking at the next The Simpsons here.

One of the things that makes BoJack Horseman stand out is that it’s that rare serialized animated comedy. It’s not just telling you a different story in every episode, as each season chronicles another chapter in this man’s life. The show starts off season 4 with the title character missing in action, and this comes after one of his biggest benders and an accident that causes him to lose the life of his former Horsin’ Around co-star in tragic fashion. This new season hopefully will have some more moments of hope for the character. Maybe he actually finds a sense of happiness away from Hollywood / Hollywoo (as the show calls it these days). The only thing that would probably force him back is the reality that the show is best when he’s around Diane, Todd, and Mr. Peanutbutter on a fairly regular basis.
