Poldark season 4 photo: See Elizabeth and George back filming!

Poldark season 4 photo

CarterMatt has the first Poldark season 4 photo from production, and if there’s one thing we learn from it right away, it’s that Elizabeth’s still with George. (There are book/season 3 spoilers ahead.)

This photo, (which you can see below from the official PBS Masterpiece account), features Heida Reed and Jack Farthing’s character in the midst of what seems to be a carriage ride. Also, in the carriage seems to be a young Valentine Poldark, who looks very much happy to be there to start filming!

We do think that it’s rather fun that the first photo of Poldark season 4 presumably isn’t of the title character, and that is indicative of one thing — this has become an ensemble series. Poldark is a show that is (by and large) about the entire region of Cornwall, and how the actions of a few end up impacting the many. This will be the most political season of Poldark to date, and there are many different reasons for that — including Ross’ own aspirations and George trying to climb the ladder.

So … why would Elizabeth still be with George? For those familiar with the books, you may know about Elizabeth taking more of a stand. At the end of season 3 in America, the character made it clear that she wasn’t going to allow George control her and dictate her family’s every move anymore. She was able to get some of the power back, and maybe the two parties are going to figure out a better way to move forward in their marriage. As if it wasn’t clear already by the age of Valentine in the photo, there is a time jump moving into season 4. Their relationship may be in a better position, and you could argue the same thing about many other relationships that are a part of the show. Who knows where Ross and Demelza will be, for example? This photo is merely the beginning of all sorts of great season 4 reporting in the weeks to come, so be sure to check back with us!

When is Poldark season 4 going to premiere?

Think along the lines of next year, and that is regardless of whatever network or country that you’re talking about. The fourth season will start airing on the BBC presumably next summer (though that hasn’t been confirmed), and if the pattern holds, it will be on PBS in the fall of 2018. The third season is airing on PBS come October 1. While it’s popular in both countries, we do hope that we’re going to be seeing even more buzz for it in the United States.

One story that we would tell you to check out now is at the link here, given that this features a first look at the new, older version of Geoffrey Charles. He is no longer a young child anymore! Hopefully, there are some great things ahead for this character as we move towards the future. (Photo: PBS/BBC.)
