The Fosters season 5 summer finale spoilers: Will ICE agents ruin prom?
This final episode of the summer is entitled “Prom,” and if you saw the promo recently released by the network, you’ve got at least some sense of what is being planned out for the hour. This should be one of the most important times in some of these characters’ lives, but what you are going to see for the most part instead is chaos, heartbreak, and a few surprises you don’t want to see.
Remember that in terms of drama, The Fosters season 5 summer finale shouldn’t by altogether different than any that came before it. After all, we do imagine that there are going to be some significant fireworks and a cliffhanger until the show comes back in the new year.
If you haven’t seen the synopsis below just yet, it does a good job of making a few more details clear regarding the story ahead:
“In the summer finale, it’s prom night at Anchor Beach. Grace’s mom has a candid conversation with Brandon, meanwhile Ximena faces a life-altering decision when ICE agents show up at prom.”
The big reveal is Ximena dealing with ICE — which is something that she’s been worried about for almost the entirety of the season so far. This is obviously the show touching on what is a terrible, horrifying situation that is going on for young people in this country. The fact that they would show up at prom really is just the icing on the terrible cake.
As for Brandon and Grace’s mom, it does feel as though we’ve already been set up as to how these between these two are going to go: Not well. After all, just remember for a moment here that they met in probably the most awkward way imaginable, thanks mostly to Brandon thinking that he was creating the perfect prom-posal for his girlfriend. These two have had their bumps in the road already, but as of a few episodes ago we didn’t think her mother was going to be one of them.
There is probably more going on in this episode than is indicated here, but clearly, the folks over at Freeform don’t want to give everything away … at least not yet. There’s going to be more time to get into that, and also probably some sneak peeks in the days to come.
