Chicago Fire season 6 preview to air during America’s Got Talent

Chicago Fire season 6 preview

For those looking for a substantial Chicago Fire season 6 preview, we do come bearing some good news — one’s on the way.

Per a new post from the show’s official Twitter account (see below), the drama is going to be airing a “surprise” during the Tuesday episode of America’s Got Talent. Remember that NBC wouldn’t hype this up just to give you a thirty-second clip of Taylor Kinney dancing … though there’s probably plenty of people out there who’d be fine with that. It will probably be a nice tease of what’s to come for the season, but the editors over at NBC’s promo department are probably going to have to walk a fine line when it comes to this. After all, they do need to figure out a way to give you some footage of the season without also including in there some evidence as to if certain characters are living or dead. The cliffhanger left many lives in jeopardy, after all — including two of the faces above in Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Severide (Kinney).

The premiere episode will serve to give you some answers, but there is obviously no reason for NBC to give anything away until then. They call this a cliffhanger for a reason, and there is some logic to killing characters off just because it establishes more of what the stakes are on the show. These are people that can die at almost any point thanks to the nature of their job. It’s something that they just have to prepare for every time that they go out there into the field.

Chicago Fire will be experiencing more than just a cast change when season 6 premieres, mostly because there is also going to be a timeslot change to go along with it. For the first time the series is moving over to Thursday nights, where they will take over the spot previously held by The Blacklist. This is NBC trying to give the premiere spot behind This Is Us to Law & Order: True Crime, while also trying to shore up a timeslot that hasn’t been that great for the better part of the past several years.

In giving Chicago Fire fans something tonight, what NBC is doing is rather clear: Showing just how committed that they are to ensuring this show hits the ground running. The more promotion that you can give it, and the better off it is likely going to be from the moment that it first comes on the air.
