Zoo season 3 episode 10 spoilers: The team’s Abigail Westbrook dilemma

Abigail Westbrook

As Zoo season 3 has progressed, the character of Abigail Westbrook has become more of a gradual thorn in the team’s side. First, we just knew her as Jackson’s sister and an enemy. Now, we’re getting the sense that she is more than capable of using an army of hybrids to actually take over the world. To make matters all the more complicated, it was actually revealed at the end of this past episode that she is actually a hybrid herself.

This puts Jackson, Mitch, Abe, and the rest of the Zoo Crew in a bit of a bind: They want to rid themselves of Abigail, but they also need her. Without her, there may not be a way to solve the sterility problem that is plaguing the world. However, with her there is another problem in that she may just continue her efforts to terrorize the world.

As you likely saw in the preview for 3×10 (if you haven’t seen it, you can view it over here), there is a rather-new problem awaiting most of humanity in an enormous nest of hybrids, one that could hatch out every species known to mankind and create a wide array of chaos. The team will have to make some tough choices when it comes to how to deal with this, but their first priority has to be a way to ensure that she stays alive long enough to help them.

The just-released synopsis below for this upcoming episode (airing August 31) gives you a good sense as to what is coming:

“After Jackson attacks Abigail (Athena Karkanis), the team rushes to save her as her life hangs in the balance.”

Is there a way to turn Abigail around and actually use her as an ally rather than an enemy? We presume that this is one of the questions that the team may wonder in this episode, given that if they can get her on their side she could help to solve the entire hybrid mess. We do think that there is a vulnerability that could be exploited with Abigail in her need to feel valued and cared for. One of the reasons why things broke apart with her and her father is that she didn’t ultimately feel like Robert cared about her or her ideas all that much; that allowed her in turn to harbor some deep resentment towards Jackson. If they find a way to make her feel special and come up with a compromise, maybe there are some bridges that could be rebuilt here.

Unfortunately, there is also a perfectly good chance that someone will make another wrong move after all of these efforts to bring Abigail back, and these bridges will end up being burned instead. At that point, we’ll be past the point of no return.
