All fans of Law & Order: SVU, this is not a drill! The fine folks at NBC have went ahead and released the first script page for season 19.

While this script page does not necessarily give much away in terms of the season 19 without context, we luckily have a little more information to pass along. This episode, entitled “Gone Fishin’,” is going to feature Will Chase of Nashville fame as an accused rapist named Byron Marks who fled to Cuba and spent six years there. Fin, meanwhile, went as far as to travel there in order to catch him.

In explaining this story further, new showrunner Michael Chernuchin of Chicago Justice fame said the following to Entertainment Weekly:

“Fin sets the season going. We see something about Fin where he’s willing to break the law, or at least thinking he’s breaking the law to do the right thing. Basically, Fin tells everybody he’s going on vacation, but what he’s really doing is he goes to Havana to track down a fugitive and he catches him in Havana. That basically sets off a whole international incident. We start big, and that’s what we wanted to do. It’s a big episode, the first one.”

One thing that we especially love about the idea of this episode right out of the gate is that you’re starting the season off with a Fin storyline. That’s not something that you often get, given that for the most part you often have to wait a few weeks before Ice-T gets some big material. It’s a nice way for the show to tip their cap to him, given that he is one of the longest-tenured cast members and he is one of Benson’s most trusted allies within the SVU team.

This individual case aside, the script tease serves as a nice reminder of one thing that we do think is very essential to this show: The squad room mixed with the collaboration. No matter what is happening in the outside world or even with an individual mystery, the SVU team finds a way to come together and take on some of the most notorious criminals in New York City. (In this case, we’re looking far beyond the Tri-State area.)

No matter what happens in this episode, we’re excited to see what transpires since Fin’s actions are going to make things very difficult on Barba — you’re dealing with international waters here, and as you would expect, this effectively throws a whole grenade into the entire case and what the team is trying to do.

What do you think about this new SVU script tease?
