Power season 4 episode 9 spoilers: Tommy vs. Dre; can Tariq escape?

Power season 4 episode 9

Following Sunday’s new episode, is Power season 4 episode 9 going to resolve some long-simmering storylines? Well, the fall of Mike Sandoval is officially out of the way. He was killed off in the closing minutes of 4×08, and that leaves the landscape very open moving forward. Will someone trace the death of Mike to Teresi and then in turn Tommy and Ghost? That’s possible, but there are other stories that could keep everyone busy. Jamie has been working as of late with Tariq, Angela still has a job to think about, and we’re also going to be seeing the continued escalation of Dre and Tommy — the former’s been lurking under the shadows much of the season with his power plays, so is he ready to burst into the open?

Some of the information below, via Starz, should give you more of a sense now as to what is coming up within this episode.

Power season 4 episode 9 synopsis – “After getting screwed in a new deal, Ghost plays dirty in the clean world. Angela explores other options after meeting her new boss. Dre moves against Tommy, who finds proof that paints Kate in a new light. Tariq makes an escape plan after his life goes out of control.”

The Tariq storyline has become over time one of our favorites this season just because of how delicately the show has handled it. The writers have done a really tremendous job painting the picture of him as this confident kid who has been exposed to so much more than any kid his age should have; as a result of that, he’s being forced to deal with the consequences. Yet, Tariq is not a killer. He’s not meant for this life, and much of him teaming up with Kanan in the first place had to deal with him wanting to take back some sort of power in the midst of his parents falling apart and him not having much of his own identity.

Yet, the question that you have to wonder is this: Is he expressing an interest in Connecticut now because of a desire to escape his life of crime, or is he just trying to escape those who may want to kill him? He’s witnessed a lot, and there may be some out there who fear him making a confession.

The promo reflects much of what we’re discussing here rather perfectly, and it also ends with a big Tommy Egan confession to his mother. Let’s just say that she needs to realize that he and his father really aren’t all that different.
