Big Brother 19 live feed spoilers: Veto Players picked; is Cody done? (day 53)

Big Brother

When we talked yesterday about Alex’s nominations for Big Brother 19 this week, one of the things that we noted is that they were an enormous risk. Because she left Cody off of the block and nominated Elena and Jason alongside Temptation Competition loser Matt, she made it so that Cody could play in the Veto, and if he won, he could remove Elena. With Mark already safe for the week, this put Alex in a position where one of her allies would have to leave the game this week.

Well … Alex got lucky thanks to the Veto Player draw, given that joining herself and the nominees today are Paul and Mark. Basically, you’ve got two more players who are sure to use the Veto if either one of them wins it. Mark will save Elena, while Paul will save Jason. Either way, Cody goes up. There may be an interesting case to be made for Mark sacrificing Elena and keeping Cody around if he wins, but it’s going to be hard for Cody to sell that given that he hasn’t really sold much of anything strategically the entire game. His lack of communication is what turned so many people against him in the first place.

Ultimately, we imagine that Cody’s goose is going to be cooked this week unless something crazy happens. If it transpires, it means that the end is here for one of the game’s most bizarre players. The circumstances that have befallen him are such that we of course would want to root for him in theory. However, he’s also made it so impossible to do that thanks to some of the things that he’s said, much as so many other people in the house have done the same. Basically, this season to us has become “In Kevin We Trust,” but we actually don’t mind Mark and Elena too much and they’ll probably be great underdogs once Cody leaves the game.

All we hope is that one way or another, he scrambles and tries to pull something off. This is a game where crazy things have happened, and there are some interesting arguments he could make to try to get someone like Matt out of the game — especially he spins it in a way that whoever makes the move is taking a strike at Paul and making it harder on him to go to the end of the game and win.

The Veto Competition should be a little bit later; be sure to come back for some full results of that. (We almost hope it’s Zingbot, mostly because we want to see how Cody reacts to being zinged.)
