The Flash season 4: Danny Trejo filming guest spot

Danny Trejo

Earlier this summer, the news was first reported that Danny Trejo would be making a guest appearance on The Flash season 4. Now, we’re absolutely thrilled to report that said appearance is happening!

Trejo retweeted on his official account this week evidence that he is working on the show’s set in Vancouver — we won’t say too much else for the sake of spoilers, but this should serve as your confirmation that you’ll be seeing him fairly early on this season. (We’ve heard rumors that Tom Cavanagh is also directing his second episode of the series, but that hasn’t been confirmed as of yet.)

Trejo’s role is one that screams “fun” given the fact that he is going to be a major source for intimidating for Cisco Ramon. He is playing the part of Breacher, the father of Gypsy (Jessica Camacho) and someone very familiar with her line of work. Any normal person would be intimidated by their girlfriend’s father, but we do like to think that this intimidation increases exponentially when you think about just how physically imposing Trejo can be. This is a fun time to incorporate the character into the world, and it may also be necessary. If you remember that Camacho has a new series-regular role elsewhere, there’s only going to be so much time that she can film a role on this show. Therefore, it makes some sense for the producers to take advantage of this opportunity while they still can.

Also, this is a good time to dive into this episode given that we are still fairly early into the season. Therefore, this is before things start to spiral and get really crazy with the story, and there is some element of normalcy — at least as much of one as you’re going to have with this show. Things will become progressively crazier over time with the arrival of The Thinker (Neil Sandilands), the Big Bad and the most intelligent character Barry has ever come across. While he’s been warned that this character is coming, that does not mean that he’s going to be easy to defeat. He cannot pull from the same bag of tricks that he’s used in the past, since it’s not just about being fast enough or using his speed to his advantage. It’s more about thinking ahead and finding a way to minimize his opponent’s abilities. While the show hasn’t quite made clear just how The Thinker’s powers will manifest themselves on the show, he’s going to be no pushover. He’ll have help from the Mechanic (his second in command) and potentially others over the course of the year.
