The Crown season 2: Trailer, release date, new pictures and Michael C. Hall

The Crown season 2

If you are a fan of The Crown then know that we have everything you could want when it comes to season 2 scoop! We have a trailer, a release date for Netflix and even some new photos! There is a lot to look froward to, so why don’t we just jump in and get to the good stuff?

With the first season of The Crown, we were given an intimate look into the life of Elizabeth during her younger years, (before and after she was on the throne) and we saw her romance with Philip growing into what we know becomes the love of her life. We saw the adjustment struggles she faced when her father died and being crowned the Queen, but the struggles were very real for everyone around her too including her sister (Princess Margaret), Philip and the Prime Minister at that time, Winston Churchill.

Looking into season 2 there is going to be a bit of a time jump: A ten year time jump in fact. After watching the trailer for the new season (which you can check out below) we see that while much has changed, there is one thing that has not and that’s the stability of Elizabeth as the Queen. It may not have been a position she wanted, but it’s a position she was born for – she was meant to rule. There have been three different Prime Minister’s during these past ten years and while people are coming and going from that position, Elizabeth still stands strong.

Although we have the above picture showing Elizabeth and Philip all smiles about her pregnancy, the trailer reveals that there have been some pretty significant bumps in the road for these two. There have been years of rumors surrounding Philip as being a bit of a bad boy, and while this isn’t news to Elizabeth the rumors are effecting how the public sees them and in this time period, appearances of a united front are crucial. Philip maintains that he’s still always been there for her, but their ideas of that aren’t exactly the same.

If you thought the drama with Elizabeth’s sister was over, think again. Princess Margaret constantly finds herself in compromising positions as we saw in the first season as she loved (and had an affair with) a married man. Ten years later it seems that Elizabeth still hasn’t found a way to get a handle on her sister and she will be bringing in new, complicated situations to give Elizabeth some serious anxiety over as she makes a public spectacle over a new relationship.

Also – we only see him for a moment in the trailer and if you blink you will miss it, but we got a glimpse of Michael C. Hall! Even though the series finale of Dexter still remains (at least to us) as one of the worst finales for a show ever, Michael C. Hall is still one of the best performers of the time. To see him on a show like The Crown (and in the role of John F. Kennedy) makes a lot of sense since we have seen some other TV legends on here like John Lithgow (another Dexter alum). This is a show that is attracting only the best talent and Hall is in a class all his own. We have high hopes for him in this role even though we know how difficult a role this is going to be to play.

The Crown will be coming to Netflix on Friday, December 8, so be sure to mark your calendars for this pre-holiday treat! What are you most excited to see happen in season 2 of The Crown?
