Supergirl season 3 has new love interest; Legends of Tomorrow meets Julius Caesar

Supergirl

Ready for some more news related to some of your favorite CW superhero shows? Well, let’s dive in starting with Supergirl season 3 and James Olsen.

For those of you who were calling for James to have a more consistent role on the show (we certainly know that we feel that way), we’re glad to see that he will have a love interest. Mehcad Brooks confirmed the good news to Hidden Remote; now, let’s just how that it’s not the Big Bad Reign, given that this could cause some problems for just about everyone involved.

Is this love interest for sure someone new? Not necessarily, but we read it that way for now given that Kara’s still coming off of everything with Mon-El, and other than Lena Luthor, there aren’t too many other candidates. There would be something fun that could come out of these two together, but we figure that James would be wary of the Luthor name given his history with both Superman and Lex over in Metropolis.

Anything that gives Mehcad some more material is something that we’re going to be thrilled with. Remember that season 3 premieres on The CW this fall, and we’ll certainly have more news all about it in due time.

As for Legends of Tomorrow

Are you ready to see what the show does with Julius Caesar? We’ve got confirmation now that Spartacus actor Simon Merrells will be playing the part on Legends of Tomorrow season 3 — a casting that feels pretty perfect given that he was very much tied to the Caesar world back on that show, as well. Consider this a playful nod to it.

In general, the ties between Spartacus and the DC – CW universe are at this point pretty significant. Just remember that Katrina Law is a recurring player as Nyssa al Ghul, whereas Manu Bennett is playing the part of Deathstroke/Slade Wilson. Meanwhile, we’ve also seen on The Flash a version of the Weather Wizard played by Liam McIntyre. If there are two shows that we’re pretty sure the producers of these shows love, it’s Spartacus and Prison Break judging from how often that they use some of their actors. (From Prison Break the shows have already used Dominic Purcell, Wentworth Miller, and Robert Knepper. It’s a shame that there aren’t ways to incorporate all three more often.)

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 will kick off once more in the present before going all over time once more so that the team can showcase some more heroics and try to fix some of their past mistakes. We don’t get the sense that there will be a disbandment in the way that we saw going into the start of season 2, where it took both Nate Heywood and a little help from Mayor Oliver Queen to get everyone back together.
