We are now in day three of the “American Idol” judging controversy regarding Adam Lambert, and now the season 8 star does have an endorsement from someone else who has made a living thanks to the show — Kellie Pickler.
During an interview on “Showbiz Tonight” this week, Pickler said that she loves Adam and seems to believe that he would do a great job as a judge on the show. As for whether or not she would ever want to take on the gig herself, she balked at the idea by saying that all she ever wanted to do was “live on a tour bus and sing [her] songs.”
While some outlets are saying that Lambert’s people have been in talks with the show producers for around a month, the singer himself has said that he hasn’t spoken to producers, even though he would entertain the idea of being a judge if it was offered to him. Some of the other contenders out there supposedly include Fergie, Miley Cyrus, and Mariah Carey — though we don’t know if any of these people are actually interested. According to TMZ, Jennifer Lopez is still figuring out whether or not she wants to return, and she she may wait to do so until after her tour with Enrique Iglesias wraps up.
Here’s our major thought on the subject — why sit around and wait that long? You know that the current panel led to a massive drop in ratings this past year, and despite Lopez’s star power, she and Steven Tyler were both criticized for not bringing much to the table in terms of actual feedback. It may be time to just pull the chute and bring in someone who will draw higher ratings for the show — not to mention get good reviews that could lead to more fans watching.
