The Good Place is opening its Season 2 premiere behind NBC’s reality hit series, America’s Got Talent. NBC will also move The Blacklist‘s Season 5 premiere up from October 4 to September 27.

Basically, NBC knows what works and if something works, the network will definitely keep doing it. So for the second straight year, NBC will premiere the Kristen Bell and Ted Danson comedy series behind a hit reality show. Last year the comedy series was premiered behind The Voice, but this year it will be the season finale of America’s Got Talent on Wednesday, September 20 at 10 PM.

However, on September 28, the Bell and Danson lead comedy will move back to its regular Tuesday 8:30 PM time slot, which was the show’s original premiere date.

The reason behind this move is to allow ratings and viewership to grow. NBC is using the highly-rated AGT finale to boost The Good Place and attract new viewers to the show, hoping they will stick around after AGT. The network did a similar move with the Blindspot last year.

However, the network is not doing this with its hit crime drama series, The Blacklist. The crime drama is moving to Wednesdays at 8 PM this year for its fifth season. The good news is fans won’t have to wait until October anymore. The network has decided to move Season 5 of the James Spader series up to September 27 during premiere week.

NBC’s other hit reality show, The Voice, was supposed to launch a three-night season premiere with the blind auditions running from Monday to Wednesday of that week, however, the network has decided to consolidate the auditions into two nights thus resulting in the move up for The Blacklist.

Having The Blacklist move up to premiere could benefit the series in gaining some new viewers who are already watching their favorite shows. Also the show is going to need to test the waters with its new time and day. It’s going to be the “new kid on the block” and fans will have to get use to watching it on Wednesdays. Because Thursdays are considered to be one of the biggest nights on television and Wednesdays can go either way, the crime drama has some serious work ahead of itself. And we are certainly cheering for them to hold their strong ratings.
