Big Brother Canada 6 renewal speculation begins anew!

Is Big Brother Canada 6 actually happening? We cannot say that as of yet, but there is absolutely something very interesting online.

If you look below, you can see an interesting countdown clock from Canadian broadcaster Global TV, one that was shared by the show’s official Facebook page. Meanwhile, the Twitter post below was retweeted by host Arisa Cox using the same hashtag #YouCanAndYouWill, which to us is a suggestion that the show could be revived thanks to the support of fans.

We’ve long been hoping to see a Big Brother Canada revival, given that this is a show that we’ve loved covering the past five years and the people working on it are some of the nicest we’ve had a chance to collaborate with. Also, it’s a game that does a lot of fun, experimental stuff. While we don’t think it’s perfect — we’d make changes to the live feeds and certain twists along the way — it actually surpasses the U.S. version in terms of casting and competitions much of the time. We also think that it has a nicer house most of the time. It’s a fun show and a great way to spend the spring, and we were honestly surprised to hear the news that it may not be coming back. Were ratings down for season 5? Sure, but sometimes it takes an event like this to really mobilize what is sometimes a divisive audience.

Whatever is happening with Big Brother Canada, signs point to further news coming out tomorrow based on the timing of this clock. Coincidentally, it should be ending right in the middle of the Thursday Big Brother eviction show — an announcement during a commercial break? That seems possible. The timing also seems right given that if Big Brother Canada were to return, the show would need to start casting it soon — this is a lengthy process, and it takes a lot of time in order to get the right group assembled. This is without even mentioning everything that needs to happen in terms of designing the house and the competition.

If you were involved in bringing the show back, give yourself a round of applause. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, you deserve a ton of credit for all of the hard work you did fighting to bring the show back on the air. Like we’ve mentioned earlier, there aren’t a whole lot of occasions out there in which the show’s fans all unite for a singular cause rather than fighting with each other on social media.
