Designated Survivor season 2: NCIS: New Orleans alum new regular

Designated Survivor

Apparently, Designated Survivor season 2 is stocking up on series regulars. How else do you explaining picking up this NCIS: New Orleans alum?

According to a new report right now coming in via Deadline, Zoe McLellan has signed up to join the Kiefer Sutherland series and will be a regular presence throughout the entirety of the upcoming batch of episodes. As for who he will be playing, think along the lines for a moment of Kendra Daynes, a described “brilliant and wily” attorney who is going to get a job that has been a longtime dream: White House counsel. What you will see from her is probably a strong, complicated arc, mostly because of the fact that she is someone who has a pretty impossible job. Can you imagine trying to be the legal counsel for the President of the United States, especially someone like Kirkman who has entered into his job without a whole lot of background and experience in it? She’s got her work cut out for her.

Luckily, we imagine that Daynes’ social-skills are top-notch after being an attorney for many years, and she’ll find a way to forge some close bonds with other people within the White House staff.

McLellan is actually the third new Designated Survivor regular to join the show this summer. We reported previously that Ben Lawson is going to be coming on board as a possible new love interest to Maggie Q’s character; meanwhile, we’ve also said already that Paulo Costanzo of Royal Pains fame will also be coming on board. There’s also a new showrunner stepping on board for the season, so when you look at all of this across the board, you have to figure that the show has some interesting and exciting new plans for itself as it tries to win over new viewers and keep established ones happy in the process.

What we do know about the first season of the show is that it did a great job of presenting a wide array of twists and turns; however, it probably went overboard with them at times. The biggest thing that the show really should do is separate itself a little bit further from the madness, and put more of a focus on the characters. with the quality of the people on this show, you can shift this show away from the ABC model of excess in the twist department.
