The Crown season 2 spoilers: Claire Foy on John F. Kennedy, Jackie

Crown season 2

The Crown season 2 has already wrapped up filming, and there’s going to be quite a bit to look forward to! For one, John F. Kennedy’s arrival. Michael C. Hall of Dexter / Six Fee Under fame is playing the character, which is thrilling given that we haven’t seen all that much of him on TV ever since he finished filming that famed serial killer.

So what’s to be excited about when it comes to his interpretation, and how that in turn what’s happening with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip? That’s something that newly-named Emmy nominee Claire Foy discussed further in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly:

“I absolutely fell in love with Jodi Balfour [who plays Jackie Kennedy]. She’s just brilliant, and Michael C. Hall is just incredible. You really see how amazing it is to put Philip and Elizabeth — their marriage and their world — suddenly into the 1960s. You see how the royal family has to start changing and move with the times and realize that things and people are different, and you start to see the evolution of the modern monarchy.”

We’re obviously thrilled to see Hall in this role, but more than that, our excitement is just for The Crown itself. Everything that we’ve seen on the show so far is stunning — it’s well-acted, superbly-written, and a show completely like no other on Netflix. There’s a reason why it will continue to rake in nominations, and much of that has to do with its accuracy and its art being rolled into one.

What else is worth looking forward to?

Well, one of the most interesting things about The Crown at this point is knowing simply what’s coming on the other side. After all, we’re going to be seeing a complete reinvention of the entire show in the season 3, and that includes a chance to see new cast members, new depictions of other people across history, and also more than likely some other great period drama.

After this show, the one thing that we feel fairly confident about is this: Is there going to be any better depiction of the Queen’s reign ever on television or in another streaming platform? This is going to be very difficult when you think about everything that this show is bringing to the table, including some of its astounding production value. That’s one of the benefits to being on Netflix, a place where there really is no expense spared.
