Big Brother 19 live feed spoilers: Showmance rantings (day 21, evening)
The good news as of right now is that there is still zero evidence that Cody will stick around in the game — Cody’s a heel and he honestly freaks us out with his dead stares, so it’s hardly sad news to be seeing him apart the game and this particular juncture. However, there’s a little bit more to be said here about how him being the obvious target is slowing everything to a crawl. The feeds are boring, and this is just the second week we’ve had them! Last week, they were fantastic; now, they’re a big nothing-burger unless you want to listen to discussions about showmances.
With that, let’s talk for a minute about Mark and Elena and how frustrating watching this is. For some reason, these two need constant assurance from ultimate wingman Dominique that this is going to work out for them … though Dominique may not be the ultimate wingman at all because there are hints in her conversations every now and then that she really doesn’t want the two of them that close. She wants a #1 ally and Mark could be her #1 ally; alas, he’s tied up with Elena. We don’t think there is some love triangle going on here as some people online are alleging, but watching Dominique give advice to either Mark or Elena on their relationship is cringe-worthy and a nice reminder as to why showmances mostly stink in this game. It’s a distraction, and not a fun one. There is nothing exciting about sitting around and watching people either cuddle or mope.
The Matt / Raven showmance is the best one in the house, but that may also be because it’s the one that has the smallest amount of actual romance going on with it.
Let’s go ahead and air two other grievances here…
Sure, why not make a Seinfeld – Festivus reference here? Anyway…
First grievance – Everyone being so excited to give the game to Raven. We get it that she can really use the money and she seems like a super-nice person. This is not Charity Big Brother, and if Raven wins this game with very little effort this season will be a waste of time. If she wins it because she’s an awesome player making smart moves, it’s a different story. We’re rooting for Raven provided that it’s Raven as a great player and not just a nice story.
Second grievance – One we actually agree with Alex on: People playing to be in jury. Her take on this is pretty great — people are lazy, and they just don’t want to work. Personally, the idea of jury sounds fun for about two days, and then there’s nothing else to do and you’re stuck in there for another month. Maybe you get marginally more fame, but is fame always a good thing? We’ve absolutely seen many examples where it’s not.
All in all, a quiet night and a quiet day. Here’s to hoping for something better tomorrow.
