Ratings: Nashville season 5, Still Star-Crossed, and Doubt

Still Star-Crossed

In today’s ratings piece, one of the questions we want to try and answer is rather simple: Is anyone watching the Saturday burn-off series?

We begin here with ABC’s Still Star-Crossedwhich moved over to the TV death-slot after it struggled on Monday nights following The Bachelorette. Suffice it to say, it didn’t perform all that well in the ratings on Saturdays, either. The latest episode generated a 0.2 rating in adults 18-49, which is a drop from where it was when it last aired. Nonetheless, this is about what we expected given that there aren’t all that many viewers out there on Saturdays willing to watch television. This show does have a devoted following, so it can at least be assured that some of those people will still be watching in some shape or form.

As for Doubt … This show was actually canceled by CBS a long time ago and pulled off the air; yet, it’s getting a chance to air out the rest of the season.

The good news is that the show’s getting more than a million viewers; yet, it’s only drawing still a 0.2 rating. CBS isn’t going to bump it most likely just because there’s no real reason for them to do so. It’s not like they can plug in a show here that would do that much better than this one, right? If you like Katherine Heigl or Dule Hill, this is at least a show worth checking out.

As for the state of Nashville season 5…

This past episode drew a 0.2 rating once more in the demo, and then almost just over 700,000 viewers. This was one of the show’s most-rated outings of the season (and likewise one of the lowest ever), but there is no immediate cause for concern. One of the biggest ones is that this episode aired close to the Fourth of July, and this show’s demographic may have still been off doing some other things on the night rather than sitting down to watch television.

Like we’ve said a few times over, there is no immediate fear for the show’s future. After all, it has been renewed already for another season! Just take a deep breath and just enjoy the rest of the season. Just keep watching the rest of the season live, given that this is going to be the best way that you can keep the ratings high and help the show’s long-term future.
