MacGyver season 2 starts filming; what we know so far

MacGyver

Great news, MacGyver fans: Season 2 is now filming in preparation of its fall premiere on CBS!

Multiple sources confirmed via social media that Thursday was the first day of filming in Atlanta, with Lucas Till, Justin Hires, and many other performers spotted around set. The show is getting set to return with September, feeling a different sort of expectation than it did before. For the first season of the show, the big challenge was trying to live up to some of the hype of the original. It did that, while also finding a tone that is very much its own. It’s funny, it’s action-packed, and it’s got great characters. The addition of Meredith Eaton midway through the season helped to further bring the show towards the top of the list of one of CBS’ best procedurals.

Now, what’s next for the show? If you think back to the end of season 1, then you know that Murdoc is back out on the run after his escape from prison. That’s bad news for the team. Also bad news? The fact that he’ll want revenge for being locked up and used in the first place. There are plenty other threats out there, with some of them being foes that Mac hasn’t even faced so far.

Earlier this summer, Till hinted that there will be a casino episode coming in season 2; beyond that, there isn’t much known just yet when it comes to case specifics.

Another expectation is for there to be a new character joining the fold, based on some of the casting news that was released earlier this summer. Now that the show has an audience and a core, it’s easier to expand that than it would’ve been to make it even more of an ensemble in season 1. (We’re just glad that the character is named Carmen so that we can make a wide array of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego jokes.)

What do we want to see?

More Bozer episodes, for one. He’s the show’s ultimate underdog in that he wasn’t trained in kicking butt and taking names, so any chance for him to be a hero is something that we’re going to get behind.

Also, more undercover missions just because it’s fun to see Till and the other cast members be able to play different sides of themselves. It’s also fun to get Eaton’s Matty Webber out in the field, even if she works great as the boss behind the scenes.

As for crossovers, we’re certainly all about them if there’s the right story in place! Another return to Hawaii Five-0 should be on the table, but we’d also be down for Scorpion given that the two shows tonally fit well together; also, Till has a relationship already with Robert Patrick on that show.

Now, let’s turn this over to you
