Blue Bloods season 8: Vanessa Ray’s back as Eddie Janko!

Blue Bloods season 8

Great news for everyone who loves Blue Bloods and Vanessa Ray: Eddie Janko is going to be back right away in season 8.

Ray confirmed via social media today that she is back to work (and in uniform) on the CBS procedural as we see filming started up leading up to its September premiere. It takes a good bit of time to get everything filmed and edited together, which is one of the primary reasons why production does start up so early in the summer, months before the show comes back.

We do have all of the sympathy in the world for Ray and the rest of the cast, given that they are going to have to spend the next couple of months outdoors in the New York City heat. It’s probably a little easier for Tom Selleck and some of the other cast members; the uniform cops have it the worst in that regard.

When you think back to the last time we saw Eddie on Blue Bloods, she and Jamie were temporarily separated as partners; since the show is set primarily from the Reagan family’s perspective, we didn’t seen her in the time in which the two parties were apart. (This was certainly a bummer to some fans, given that there were questions aplenty as to where Eddie was and if she would be coming back.)

Where could the story go for Eddie entering season 8?

That’s a good question, given that there are certainly plenty of fans out there who has a pretty good indication of precisely what they’d like to see. Think in terms of some sort of fantastic sequence in which Jamie and Eddie finally realize that they have to be together and they dive into some sort of official relationship.

However, we also don’t want to marginalize Eddie into just a love interest, since it’d be great to see more of her family, more of her friends outside of work, and also learn about what she was doing in the time in which she and Jamie were a part. We know that this isn’t the sort of show that uses flashbacks, but there has to be some other way in which to further implement this into the story.

In the end, we know that Eddie is a great character, so we’re most just glad that she is back and excited to see where the season 8 story is going to take her, Jamie, and the rest of the characters. We’ve got another 22 episodes of Blue Bloods presumably coming through the upcoming season.
