Alec Baldwin jokes about Saturday Night Live – Donald Trump impression

Even though Alec Baldwin’s Saturday Night Live – Donald Trump impression may be very much popular, Alec is clearly his own worst critic. For a prime example of that, you just have to look at the video below.

Baldwin made an appearance this past week on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he admitted that he doesn’t think that his impression is very good. However, he thinks that he gets away with it simply for the reason that he does it for the cold open, it’s a few short minutes, and then everyone moves on to other things. Also, he credited the writers for giving him material that was so good that it made people forget about the fact that his voice isn’t an accurate impression of Trump’s by any means.

We’re certainly not the first to say that when it comes to actually mirroring Donald Trump’s voice, there are many people out there far better at it than Baldwin. Where he manages to shine and stand out a little bit more is through the lens of the character. He’s created (with the help of the writers) a very specific tone to his Trump, one where he is this raging egomaniac who at the same time does still have some of these child-like tendencies and insecurities. He remains desperate to be loved and to get attention, but is incapable of doing anything that makes the majority of the country love him.

Baldwin already confirmed that he will be back for SNL again this coming season, so there is nothing to worry about when it comes to that department. We do feel like one of the biggest reasons why Alec continues to do it is simply because he knows it gets a rise out of the President. When you have the leader of a country talking about you, whether it’s positive or negative, you do know that you’re doing something very right. He’s made a huge impact on pop culture, and while Alec has had an illustrious career and has done so many great things, this could end up being the one that people remember the most … even more so than playing Jack on 30 Rock.

Oh, and in this video Alec also mocks Jimmy for his mustache. Bless Alec Baldwin.
