Better Call Saul season 4 renewal official; ten episodes to air in 2018
In a statement today, AMC confirmed that they have ordered officially ten more episodes of the series from Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould starring Bob Odenkirk; these episodes will air in 2018, though there isn’t too much more known beyond that.
What we do have for you below is an incredibly hokey statement via Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios:
“Supporting artists we respect and admire; delivering truly outstanding character development and nuanced dramatic twists and turns; continuing a legacy of bold creative choices; loving writing that is the best in the business: Truly, ‘S’all good, man.’ Congratulations to Vince, Peter, Bob and everyone involved with ‘Better Call Saul.’ Bring on season four!”
There was never any doubt that Better Call Saul would come back, but it was somewhat odd to see the network wait so long to confirm the renewal. There was no indication that season 4 would be the show’s last, so here’s to hoping that this is a sign that we could be getting at least one more batch of episodes beyond this. As we’ve said already, it’s our own personal hope that we get to see the show make it for a solid five seasons, that way we can get a fuller sense of the scope of Saul’s journey. We’d love for the fourth season to help to further conclude the story of Jimmy / Saul, leading way for the fifth season to potentially be the story of Gene, the Cinnabon employee and future incarnation of the character. This could be an opportunity to bring the man full-circle, and maybe offer up a chance to see if he can find a different sort of happiness in his life.
Production for Better Call Saul season 4 will likely begin later this year. Once we’ve got further insight, we’ll share it here at the site.
