Absentia spoilers: Stana Katic on the appeal of Emily Byrne

Absentia

If you’re looking for some more answers when it comes to Absentia and the story ahead, we still hope that you’re patient. While you wait, though, we do have a new series of videos to help make the anticipation easier.

The videos below come courtesy of the Monte Carlo TV Festival, where many cast members chose to answer some questions submitted to the show’s official feed. Whether it be Neil Jackson, Cara Theobold, or Patrick Heusinger, they all have some interesting things to say regarding their experiences on set and filming. (Jackson in particular has some interesting things to say about playing the brother of Emily Byrne; let’s just say that this character is far more complicated than you would first think on the surface.)

In addition to these videos, we’ve transcribed specifically what Stana Katic had to say about why she wanted to play Emily on the series, which is still waiting to find an official home in America:

“From the scripts that I got to read, I loved that she was a strong female character. She’s very unusual in that she held so many elements inside of her as a character. She was a mother, a lover, a sister, a daughter, and so for. On top of that and most importantly, she was a survivor. I thought that putting that sort of character in the context of a suspense drama would be exciting to play and challenging, as well. I’m a little bit of a creative cowboy in that way, and I look forward to those sorts of challenges.”

One of the best things about these videos, beyond of course their existence, is the fact that you do get to see the enthusiasm from many of the cast members in the project. You can tell that there is a great deal of genuine excitement from all of them to see the show play out on the small screen.

For most announced outlets, Absentia will premiere this fall. Further details will be announced in due time, but these videos give you a good sense as to the story and the personality of the performers.
