Chicago Fire season 6 spoilers: A new character with a Brett connection

Brett

We may not be able to tell you who survives the devastating Chicago Fire season 5 finale cliffhanger, so how about some Brett news?

According to a new report coming in from Entertainment Weekly (courtesy of executive producer Derek Haas), Kara Killmer’s character will be running into a friend from her hometown at some point early on in season 6. There isn’t too much known about this character in terms of specifics, but they could be a source of trouble / stress for her.

Should this come as a big shock to anyone? Not really, when you stop to think about the fact anyone who tends to come from the past of some of the characters in the One Chicago family brings with them problems. There’s a reason why characters move forward with their lives, and it’s fairly similar to in real life — you don’t often want to dwell on things that have transpired, especially when there are so many things happening in the present.

Beyond just this person from the past, one of the other questions that you should wonder about moving into the new season of Chicago Fire is where Brett’s romantic life will stand. We know that for many, the Brett / Antonio relationship was very popular, but that’s in even more flux than it even was in the story because of Chicago Justice being canceled. It’s hard to know if Jon Seda will have much of a present in the franchise now, so with that, it’s hard to know if they are going to be able to work things out. (It would be somewhat hilarious if Antonio went into training to become a nurse now and tried to appear on as many different shows as possible.)

Ultimately, we’re down for more Brett on Chicago Fire no matter what the story is, mostly given that Killmer is great in the role and she has an energy and spirit that is so different from everyone else on the show. At least we’re not having to worry about her fate thanks to the fire in the finale.
