Code Black: What will season 3 bring?

Code Black

During the second season finale of Code Black, fans were left in a back-and-forth state of shock and relief. The two-part finale had the Angels Memorial doctors fighting to stop a viral outbreak before it could kill anyone else. In the first part, fans sadly said goodbye to Dr. Heather Pinkney (Jillian Murray) after she died as a result of the outbreak. At the end, despite the hard challenge the doctors came out on top.

But what does this mean for the upcoming third season? Where will we find the doctors?

One possible storyline fans could see is the developing relationship between Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) and Ariel. When fans last saw the duo, Leanne had taken the girl in and acted like the mother figure the young girl needed. Will Ariel come to see Leanne as her mother or, at least, a mother figure? It’s obvious Leanne sees the girl as a daughter. She risked her life for Ariel during the viral outbreak and, after, Leanne opened her home to Ariel. It will be interesting to watch what the show has in store for the two, especially since as Leanne put it, “they both have no one”.

Another possible storyline fans could see is the budding romantic relationship between Dr. Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Dr. Noa Kean (Emily Tyra). At the end of season two, Dr. Kean kissed Dr. Savetti during his recovery from the virus. However, she left him with the impression that she was going to play hard to get. Hopefully the show will continue to explore their relationship, especially if it turns into a will they or won’t they dynamic that keeps everyone on the edge of their seats.

Code Black focuses on the fictional Angels Memorial Hospital and the doctors and residents who work there, as they handle an overcrowded and understaffed emergency room in Los Angeles, California.

The CBS medical drama stars Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, as well as Rob Lowe, Melanie Chandra, William Allen Young, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Luis Guzmán, and Boris Kodjoe.

Code Black returns to CBS midseason with what is currently a 13-episode order.
