American Horror Story season 7 spoilers: Colton Haynes joining
This glorious news was first confirmed in a new post on Instagram courtesy of executive producer Ryan Murphy. The photo below is clearly one of the first images of Haynes in character … whatever that character may be. We do know from some of the news that is out there about the season so far that colors are playing a key part in the show this season, and with that, we’ve also seen the likes of Evan Peters and Billie Lourd sporting different looks with various hair colors this season.
As for what this means beyond a big hair-dye budget, that does remain to be seen. Let’s just hope that there is something more revealed in the near future, given that this is a season that Murphy professed in advance would be rather different than Roanoke in terms of his willingness to share extensive details in advance.
What we do know for sure, at least right now, is that the 2016 election is one of the big storylines that he is touching on. This does not necessarily mean that the show will take a literal interpretation of this; it could be more thematic, and touch more on the sense of division and frustration that so much of us have in the wake of everything that has happened over the past six months. We just hope that it’s not political shock value, since we’ve already seen that this is not the sort of thing that necessarily helps anyone. We absolutely would like to see something with a larger, more moral message. Interestingly, this is something that over time we’ve seen the American Horror Story franchise take on. It may be rather surprising in some ways, but they are very much effective when it comes to pulling it off.
In getting back to Haynes, this is a great gig for him to show more of his talents after playing so many interesting characters over the years.
