Elementary season 6 spoilers: Sherlock will clue in Joan on illness
There are plenty of shows out there that would just keep things a secret between these characters forever, just because this is such an easy device to drive conflict: You keep a secret, the other person finds out said secret, and then there is a giant stink that happens.
Luckily, on season 6 we do at least know that the decision is Sherlock’s to tell Joan the truth. Speaking on that subject to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Rob Doherty had the following to say on the subject:
“He will indeed [tell Joan about his head condition] … He knows by now that problems like these are best addressed with help from friends. The question will be, has he waited too long to confide in her?”
It’s possible that by the time this information is out in the open, Joan will find herself in a place where she’s too inundated with other stuff to listen, especially when you consider for a moment everything else that is going on with her life in the aftermath of Shinwell’s death. Hopefully, both parties find a way to recover from what ails them, given that the entire nature of this show is all about the mysteries that this team solves. At the moment, one of the biggest mysteries that you have to wonder is if Sherlock will be anywhere near the same man when he gets back on the job. How much will his condition impact his abilities? Odds are, he’s going to have to figure out a way to rely more on Watson than ever before.
Quite possibly the saddest thing that we have to say right now is just how long we are going to be waiting from now until when the show actually does premiere. It won’t be until midseason, and hopefully we’ll get a chance to learn more about that as we do get closer to the season coming on the air.
