Call the Midwife Christmas Special 2017: Check out the latest photo!
If you look below via the show’s official Facebook page, you can see a new photo featuring none other the Turner family on Christmas Day presumably. What’s important about this photo is that it does give you a great sense of time and evolution for the show. Some time will have passed between the most-recent finale and here, but how much remains to be seen. The characters don’t appear to be significantly older; what’s nice is the show seems to be pacing itself so that Max and Angela Turner have a chance to age just as you would expect them to in life.
So what will happen over the Christmas Special itself? That’s still shrouded in mystery, other than that the show is not looking to do anything as ambitious as what they pulled off on this past special with the trip to South Africa. That was one of the biggest, boldest things that they could have done.
Another mystery here is just what characters will be turning up in the Special, given that it’s already been made clear that you won’t be seeing either Patsy or Sister Monica Joan at any point in season 7. Whether or not we see them here remains a major question mark. The good news is that Patsy and Delia did have that big moment of closure at the end of season 6, so fans of that couple did get what they’d been wanting to see from them … even if it would have been nice to see more.
On the other side of the Christmas Special, season 7 for Call the Midwife should premiere at some point in 2018. More than likely, it will be January for the folks in the UK while American viewers will have to wait until a little bit further into the spring.
