Gotham stars Ben McKenzie, Morena Baccarin married!

Baccarin

Mrs. Carter: While their characters on Gotham may suffer (and boy do they suffer!), Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin have found happiness with each other in real life!

As reported by People Magazine, the two actors (who are also parents to a fifteen-month old child named Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan) got married on Friday in a beautiful ceremony that took place at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, which was attended by a number of close friends and family members. A huge congratulations are in order for the two of them!

The timing for the ceremony was great for McKenzie and Baccarin for a wide array of reasons, starting with the fact that the ceremony took place on what was Morena’s 38th birthday! How about that for a little bit of an added birthday present! Beyond that, this event took place a few days before Gotham aired its two-hour season finale, which actually does put the future of Morena’s Lee Thompkins in some jeopardy. The character made the decision to leave Gotham city after being temporarily infected with the Alice Tetch virus. This wasn’t the first time in which she found herself leaving the city (and with all the villains running around making her life miserable who could blame her?), but it’s possible that it’s permanent this time. She realizes now the sort of people and circumstances that come out of being in Gotham, and it’s not a place conducive to having any sort of happy life. It’s hard to blame her for wanting to get away from it.

Is it still possible that Baccarin finds a way to return in season 4? Absolutely, and we hope that she does considering how important she is on the show and how much we just love the actress (we’ve loved her since her days on Firefly!). If she’s not a regular, we can live with that as long as she comes back here and there depending on if they have some meaty material for her.

One way or another, the two should have a nice time honeymooning and enjoying time as a married couple before they have to get back to work. Beyond that, Gotham season 4 filming should start up a little bit later in the summer in preparation for the show premiering at some point later this fall. As you can see over at the link here, Fox is planning to air the new season on Thursday nights for the first time.
