NCIS season 15: Cleaning up more Mark Harmon rumor garbage
The specific story we’re talking about is the one claiming that Harmon is supposedly “ill” and in terrible shape, and as a result of that the show is either ending, he is leaving, or that it’s about to be abruptly canceled. It’s happened MANY TIMES over the past several months, and there is no real origin behind the story other than that it was probably started by someone who either doesn’t like Harmon or was just so desperate for traffic that they’d be willing to get it at the expense of an actual person, someone who is doing quite well and doesn’t need this sort of nonsense being spread about him. Even if it were true (and it’s not), purposefully exploiting someone’s illness for the sake of hits is gross on top of more gross.
Now, for that aforementioned nonsense article we are talking about — and why we chose to write about this today. Much of that is due to a new “report” from Blasting News, who chose to blast out there into the universe this morning a steaming pile of nonsense and tried to include CarterMatt as one of their sources as evidence that this is true – which we have never said, not once. Here’s one of the paragraphs of note:
“#Mark Harmon has been mum about the real status of his health. This has made his fans wonder if he is really going to leave “NCIS” soon, which could also cause the cancellation of “NCIS” Season 15. According to Cartermatt, Mark Harmon’s character will have a major change in his role in the next season of “NCIS” Season 15. Fans are wondering if this is the reason why the show would take a hiatus in the future. A report from Buddy TV suggested that the showrunners of “NCIS” Season 14 should start focusing on the plot of the series. Critics reportedly think that the show has to balance the old and new characters in the story.”
There are so many things that are wrong about this that it’s hard to know where to begin, but hopefully this shows further why we’ve chosen to pick up the torch. The site seems to be using comments, supposedly from us, to justify their untrue claims. Have we ever said that Harmon’s health is going to lead to the show’s cancellation? Absolutely not. Have we even said that he “will have a major change in his role” as it’s put there? That’s also misleading. What we’ve speculated on in the past is that Gibbs on the show could eventually decide that he doesn’t want to get out there in the field as much, but that’s not a certainty by any means … nor is it in any way attributed to the actor’s health. Speculating on story possibilities for a character on a show doesn’t necessarily have to do with the health of one of its stars! (The citation of Buddy TV, a site with quality reporting, also makes little to no sense given that it doesn’t really have anything to do with anything.)
Basically, it’s one thing to throw some panic piece out there to make fans concerned about the future of the show. It’s another entirely to do while citing other people, and making your readers believe that they’re somehow roped in to your nonsense.
The lesson here is, yet again, be careful and present about not only what you read, but where you’re reading it from. There are a legion of sites out there trying to take advantage of misleading headlines and their search-engine rankings by causing panic in fans.
While we’re at it, let’s circle the wagon on a few other rumors: Cote de Pablo is still not returning to NCIS, and neither is Michael Weatherly for the time being. Also, Bull is not being canceled so that Weatherly can return. We don’t know if the latter one is actually out there, but since someone will probably make it up over the next few weeks here’s your denial in advance: It’s not happening.
Anyhow, NCIS season 15 will premiere this fall, and Harmon will be a part of the cast. That’s what you need to know for now, but be sure to head over to the link here for more of the latest updates. (Photo: CBS.)

They are all clickbait sites taking some truth and combining with a lot of untruths and random speculation – and comment generated on social media because of them – and then playing chinese whispers with each other and “quoting” each other as proof of their lies.
And a recent item about NCIS that I read on a foreign language website was far more truthful, accurate and written in better English that most of these.
I recently commented on one of the sites pointing out their lies and – surprise! – the comment was deleted.

Thank you for clearing all the rumors that was being put on Internet. I’ve been watching Ncis since it started and I like the people on the show. They make the show more intertaining and more interesting of science project how they solve the case.

Thank you. Seems Google sends me articles at least once a month from sites I’ve never heard of with gloom and doom for NCIS or Harmon.
