Gotham season 3 finale video: Morena Baccarin, Ben McKenzie on Lee twist

What is it about Gotham turning so many of its female characters evil? First, it was Barbara Kean at the end of the first season of the show. Now, let’s Lee Thompkins as a result of the Tetch virus. There isn’t a single female major character on this show now who is completely free of the darkness, and in some ways, it’s created some exciting, scary dynamics.

Seeing the dark side of Lee does make a little bit of sense, even if the virus wasn’t involved in the story. Given everything that she’s gone through, whether it be Jim Gordon shooting Mario or being in so many near-death situations herself, it feels like this is the sort of person she could have eventually become.

The video below features both Morena Baccarin and Ben McKenzie teasing up some of the craziness that has unfolded for Lee as of late, and how much of this will now build into the two-hour finale coming on Monday. Are they going to survive what they’re becoming, and will Gotham crumble under its own madness? One of the things that has made this season so effective is how much of the story has operated with a slow build in mind. The Alice Tetch story first started earlier this season, but it never fully went away and the show found some interesting ways over time to reintroduce it. The Executioner was one of the key players in there, but the same could be said for the Mad Hatter himself as he watched so many people devolve into this chaos.

To make matters worse, the virus is far from the only threat emerging in the finale, given that you do also have such matters to worry about as the Court of Owls and the arrival of Ra’s al Ghul, a man who will have unparalleled control and the ability to turn Bruce Wayne into the person who is someday known as Batman. His power and influence is going to be a huge factor in everything that’s coming.

Also, we of course cannot forget the fact that there is going to also be an opportunity to see at least a Harley Quinn reference — if not Harley herself. The finer details and rumors are a subject for a different day.
