Britain’s Got Talent 2017: When do live shows begin?

when do live shows begin

Tonight, Britain’s Got Talent 2017 kicks off its final audition show, and with that, the judges will come through and make their choices of the top 40. The best of the best are going to be chosen, and they will all have a chance then to compete in the live shows.

The first thing to remember here in conjunction with the live shows is that there seem to be harsher cuts than usual entering them. Reports at present are that Simon Cowell and the rest of the panel really went at some people who have some professional performing history after facing some backlash from viewers. It still feels like much of this nonsense is overblown, but that is ultimately for viewers to decide and determine with their decision to tune in. That matters more, at least from this vantage point, than anyone complaining on social media.

So when do the live shows begin this year? As in past years, ITV is making Britain’s Got Talent into a full-on event, airing new episodes almost every day for a week’s span starting with Monday. The first live performance show will air starting at 7:30 p.m. London time, and then run until 9:00. There will be a break (as per usual) for the results to be tabulated, and then the show will then come back on the air starting on 9:30 to announce the acts moving forward to the grand final airing next weekend.

Is this a lot of television to watch over a single week? Absolutely, but there is something about the scheduling for the live shows that turns it into a major event. It’s a single week of almost non-stop talent entertainment, and then it stops and everyone has a chance to breathe before the series then comes back. It keeps it from feeling like a show that is beaten into the ground, and that is good given the massive and frustrating over-saturation of the talent-show market, especially in the UK when this year already brought you both The Voice and Let It Shine, and there is still another season of The X Factor still to come. Proportional to the country’s popular, that is a great deal of the same sort of entertainment to take on.
