Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Erika Jayne gets post-Dancing with the Stars surgery

Erika Jayne

Erika Jayne worked hard to make sure that she was in dancing shape for the Dancing with the Stars finale. Now, she needs a little help.

According to a report from TMZ, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star (otherwise known as Erika Girardi) underwent surgery this week following an upper-body injury that she suffered while taking part in the competition earlier this spring. She managed to persevere through it during her final routine, mostly because she apparently didn’t want to play the “sympathy card” to make people feel like they needed to vote for her with some ulterior motive in mind. She wanted to win for the sake of winning, and that is a sentiment that is absolutely understandable … even if she was eliminated shortly after suffering the injury.

Sources tell the website that her injury is one of the reasons why she spent the opening number of the finale (watch below) perched atop a unicorn. She knew that there wasn’t a whole lot else that she could do physically, but still wanted to be a part of the show.

Despite this season of the ballroom dance competition being over, there is still going to be other opportunities to see Erika Jayne moving forward. After all, she’s probably going to still have a role to play on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and that new season could premiere as early as the fall of this year. She’s also got her prolific music career, so she’ll stay busy even in the midst of recovering from what happened here.

As for Dancing with the Stars, there will of course be another new season coming in the fall featuring an all-new cast. Expect some of the first rumors around it to start surfacing in either July or early August. Typically with this show, the majority of the cast is actually uncovered before ABC announces them. That’s indicative of the struggles that go along with trying to keep something a secret in 2017.

Fingers crossed to Erika on a speedy recovery! Hopefully, she will be around for plenty of entertainment as a part of the Bravo series later this year.
