Should MacGyver season 2 – NCIS: New Orleans crossover happen?

MacGyver season 2 - NCIS: New Orleans

Friday nights this summer are going to be great for many things: Barbecues, parties, and catching up here and there on some of the shows you may have missed during the season.

With this in mind, the time definitely feels right to start up the MacGyver discussion again! There will be new episodes airing throughout the summer, and as season 2 premieres this fall, there’s the potential for a ton of fun stuff ahead … including more crossovers.

For now, Hawaii Five-0 is the only show to feature a MacGyver crossover, and it turned out to be a fun little affair even if Jack never got a chance to spend time with his old acquaintance Steve McGarrett. It absolutely feels like there should be another crossover coming, and there’s even more time now to plan for it than there was the first time around. (Remember, when MacGyver first premiered there was no guarantee that it would get more than 13 episodes.)

So why does NCIS: New Orleans feel like the perfect fit in the event that the show chooses to branch out to some other programs on the CBS schedule? There are a handful of pretty understandable reasons for it.

1. Location, location, location – MacGyver films in Atlanta, while NCIS: NOLA does much of their own location work in the Big Easy. That’s a pretty quick flight for the cast — certainly a far shorter one than over to Oahu. The main reasons that the Hawaii Five-0 crossover made sense was because they were on the same night, and they share Peter M. Lenkov as executive producer.

2. Jack on Bourbon Street – Is there a need to elaborate any more on this? Sometimes, the stories really write themselves.

3. Bozer chowing down on some beignets – For most people out there, Justin Hires’ character is the most relatable on the show in that he didn’t come from some crazy super-spy background. Therefore, it makes some sense that he would do the same thing so many of us would do in New Orleans: Find the food!

4. Matty and Pride working together – It feels like these two would throw some snark back and forth, but they’d respect and get along with each other in the end and work well together for a targeted mission.

As for getting Mac to work with any of the NCIS agents, good luck with that. It’s hard enough getting him to work with Jack.

Do you think that NCIS: New Orleans is the most appropriate MacGyver crossover destination, or do you have a different one in mind? Sound off below!
