America’s Got Talent season 12 trailer: A piano-playing chicken + more

America's Got Talent season 12 trailer

Ready to check out the latest America’s Got Talent season 12 trailer? Let’s hope so, since it’s below for your watching enjoyment!

This trailer below offers up one of the first extended looks at the new season, including not just a first look at the talent itself, but also host Tyra Banks trying to settle into her role as a judge. You know that she’s going to be entertaining and have a big personality in the role, but will she be light and funny?

Think back to America’s Next Top Model, which Banks hosted for many years and is going to host again when it premieres on VH1 coming up for the next cycle. That show was based heavily on drama, and when Tyra got in front of the contestants, it was mostly serious business. Having a good laugh wasn’t ever top priority since the show was about finding someone to become a star in a pretty cut throat industry. It wasn’t anything similar to being a host in charge of keeping this three ring circus going. At one point, you have a singer going out on stage and pouring out their heart. The very next moment, a PIANO-PLAYING CHICKEN is coming on stage and doing some of that they do best … which is, of course, playing the piano.

The idea of a piano-playing chicken is the sort of thing that can only be found on this show, and it’s remarkable that it’s here. That is one of the many reasons that America’s Got Talent is the summer show that can’t be beat.

Surveying the field for acts

One of the big things that the America’s Got Talent producers need to focus on at this point is securing some talent that is different than the year before. Last year was very much heavy on the singers, and Grace VanderWaal was the winner. It was also clear that she would be the winner from the very moment that she came on stage to audition.

The show should try to really reach out and bring in circus and comedy acts this year. In particular, a comedian has never won this show, and this feels like the right time for that. With Melissa Villasenor actually a part of Saturday Night Live now, there is a proof-of-concept that comics can come on this show and have success after the fact.
