The Flash season 4: The diverging futures of Caitlin Snow, Killer Frost

Caitlin Snow

Following The Flash finale, we have to ask: Who is Caitlin Snow … or is she even Caitlin Snow at all? Already, there are multiple memes out there claiming that she is “something else” as opposed to Caitlin or Killer Frost … which of course feels more so like Arrow than it does anything on The Flash

The dilemma that the character is in right now is the same dilemma that the showrunners are in moving into season 4, as they struggle to pinpoint Caitlin’s role in the up coming story. She’s not a hero anymore, given that she’s threatened to kill multiple members of Team Flash. Yet, simultaneously she’s not necessarily a villain, either. The writers can’t throw her into STAR Labs and act like nothing ever happened.

So what do they do? There are a few suggestions we have that are worth throwing out into the universe.

A new team – Caitlin eventually teams up with Julian to form their own crime-fighting team, one willing to stoop to vigilante justice (more so then other superheroes) to ensure that Central City is safe. She does the things that Team Flash is not willing to do, while also working with them here and there. If anyone would be willing to work with her, it’s more than likely going to be Julian. Just remember for a moment that he was willing to bring her back to life even if it meant her turning into a frosty supervillain. We think that he’d be willing to work with her again as a part of a vigilante team.

A meta-human mentor – Think of it this way — Caitlin is far from the only person to be corrupted by her powers. She could be useful to other people who are suffering from similar problems. Maybe, she could stop some metas without getting The Flash involved. Think of her as Professor Charles Xavier except younger and without a school.

A Big Bad – Given that Caitlin’s become Killer Frost at several points already, it is certainly feasible to assume that she could become her again. If that happens, she’s more dangerous than almost anyone given that she knows where the bodies are buried. It’d be exciting, but it’d also be heartbreaking.

Someone who eventually comes around – Caitlin can’t go back to being the same person she was, but she could still be an asset to the team. It may just take a little bit of time and patience for her to figure out how to live with her powers.
