Saturday Night Live: Read Bobby Moynihan’s touching farewell note

Bobby

This past weekend, the Saturday Night Live finale marked the final appearance of one Bobby Moynihan. It’s still difficult to imagine the show without him, but it’s also harder to think of a better way for him to depart the show.

Think about it this way: Bobby left getting to play a signature character in Drunk Uncle, and then also doing the return of the WWE promo sketch with Dwayne Johnson. Effectively, he had the best celebration any cast member could have upon departing the show.

To go along with this proper on-air farewell, Moynihan also got a heck of a fantastic farewell from the show’s stage as well. As noted on his Twitter, the likes of Alec Baldwin, Kenan Thompson, Pete Davidson, and Tom Hanks carried the guy off the stage — which is an incredibly cool way to go. He had nine awesome seasons on the show, which is (per Moynihan’s message on Instagram below, an incredible read) the fifth-longest tenure in the history of the show. Thompson currently holds that title, and it doesn’t seem as though he’s ready to go anywhere in the near future.

Bobby also mentions in this post the farewell for two other notable cast members in Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata — it’s the departure of the latter that is still taking much of the internet by surprise, since her departure was not public knowledge to anyone before the start of the show.

What are you going to miss the most about Bobby on SNL? Be sure to sound off in the comments below! (Photo: NBC.)

When I was a kid would tape the audio of SNL of the TV and listen to it on the bus. At the 40th I was the Land Shark. I remember watching the Mothers Day Special and seeing Chris Farley and his Mom and saying to my Mom “Maybe one day we will do that?”. Two years ago she stood next to Reese Witherspoon and I on home base. 9 years and 193 episodes ago I met Lorne Michaels and some of the most amazingly kind and talented people in the world. Last night, Kenan Thompson, Tom Hanks and Alec Baldwin and Pete Davidson carried me off that stage for the last time as a cast member. The fifth longest cast member of all time. I’m very proud of that and my time there. I am a huge fan of SNL. Always have. Always will be. Endless thanks to the best and most hard working cast and crew in television. I love them so much it’s stupid. So glad I got to share a final episode with friends @vanessabayer and @thesheertruth Thanks to @ucbtny Without you I would not feel like the luckiest boy in the world today. Thanks @nbcsnl I will miss you more than you know. Thank you for all the kind words. I’m gonna live for ev…..
